Arabica coffee originates from the Ethiopian highlands and was the first coffee variety to be cultivated commercially. The name "Arabica" comes from the Arabian Peninsula, as this coffee was introduced to the world through trade from Yemen. It grows at an altitude of 800–2,200 meters above sea level with an ideal temperature of 15–24°C and rainfall of 1,200–2,200 mm/year. It has smoother and smaller leaves than Robusta coffee, and grows to a plant height of around 2.5–4.5 meters.
